British Values

At Catton Grove Primary School, we actively promote British values as part of our work in developing the moral, spiritual, cultural and social lives of our children. British values are promoted across our curriculum, particularly through our ‘meanwhile, elsewhere’ assemblies and our core values. Our Catton High Five weaves these values throughout the school culture by encouraging our children to become active citizens and participating in aspirational cultural and community activities. 

As well as actively promoting British values; we actively challenge pupils, staff or parents expressing opinions contrary to fundamental British values, including ‘extremist’ views. 

British values are defined as:

• Democracy
• The rule of law
• Individual liberty
• Mutual respect 
• Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs, and for those without faith.

Our values and ethos align with the expectations set out by the Government and Ofsted.
