Pupil Voice

School Council

At Catton Grove Primary, our School Council gives children a real voice in school life. Representatives are democratically elected by their classmates and take on the important responsibility of sharing pupils’ ideas, opinions and suggestions. School Councillors meet regularly to discuss ways to improve the school, support community projects, organise events and help make decisions that positively impact all children. Through their role, councillors develop leadership, communication and teamwork skills while learning about democracy, responsibility and active citizenship. They are role models who help ensure every child’s voice is heard and valued.

Eco Committee

Our Eco Ambassadors are passionate pupils who champion environmental responsibility across the school. Children apply for the role through a competition process, demonstrating their enthusiasm, ideas and commitment to making a positive difference. Once selected, Eco Ambassadors lead half-termly assemblies to inspire and educate their peers about whole-school environmental initiatives and sustainable practices. They help promote eco-friendly habits like walking to school, reducing use if electricity and raising awareness of food waste. They encourage action on important environmental issues and work together to make our school a greener place.

Wellbeing Ambassadors

Our Wellbeing Ambassadors are pupils from Years 4 to 6 who help ensure that children’s voices are heard and valued. As members of the local community, they meet regularly to share their experiences of life both in and out of school, discussing the things they enjoy, the opportunities available to them and any concerns or worries they may have about their community. These discussions provide valuable insights that help adults better understand the needs of our children and act where needed. By identifying and addressing concerns, Wellbeing Ambassadors play an important role in helping to create a safe, supportive and positive environment for everyone. Through their role, they develop confidence, communication skills and a strong sense of citizenship while helping to shape and improve the community around them.

Sports Leaders

Our Sports Leaders are enthusiastic role models who help to promote active, healthy lifestyles across the school. Children apply for the role by demonstrating their passion for sport, teamwork and leadership. Sports Leaders support, organise and lead lunchtime clubs, help at sporting events and encourage all children to take part in physical activity. They play an important role in fostering teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship, ensuring that everyone feels included and motivated to be active. Through their leadership responsibilities, Sports Leaders develop confidence, communication skills and a strong sense of responsibility while inspiring others to enjoy the benefits of sport and exercise.

Junior Librarians

Our Junior Librarians are passionate readers who help to foster a love of books and reading throughout the school. Children apply for the role by demonstrating enthusiasm, responsibility and a commitment to promoting reading for pleasure. Junior Librarians help to organise and care for the library, recommend books to their peers, support younger readers and assist with reading-related events and initiatives. They play an important role in creating a welcoming and engaging library environment where everyone can discover the joy of reading.

Year 6 Young Leaders

Our Year 6 Young Leaders are trusted role models who help to support the smooth running of school life. As the oldest pupils in the school, they take on a range of responsibilities, including supporting younger children at lunchtimes, helping with corridor and toilet duties, and promoting positive behaviour throughout the school. Young Leaders demonstrate kindness, maturity and a strong sense of responsibility, setting an excellent example for others to follow. Through their role, they develop leadership, confidence and communication skills while making a valuable contribution to our school community and helping every child feel safe, supported and included.
