We are delighted to provide a wonderful and unique opportunity for this academic year! If you are seeking to work in a rewarding and inspirational primary school, this could be the opportunity that you have been waiting for…
Catton Grove Primary School is a large three form entry school with low staff turnover, so this is a rare opportunity to join our talented, ambitious, committed and caring team. We have a well-established and award-winning music department; the successful candidate will work alongside an experienced music instructor to deliver an exciting, ambitious and creative music curriculum. If successful, you will have the opportunity to put your musical talents to fantastic use and potentially put you on the track for a career working in music education!
We are looking for a candidate that shares our passion for how music can change lives. As our curriculum intent statement says:
Here at Catton Grove, music runs through our veins! Each and every day is an opportunity to discover, to experiment, and to enjoy music in all its forms. We are all musicians…this is a key principle of ours - not to just play music, but to become musicians. Through exploring the work of musicians from all over the world, all walks of life and from many different eras, we create a natural, inspirational curiosity. We encourage our pupils’ understanding, enjoyment and appreciation of music through an active involvement in the key concepts of listening, composing, improvising and performing. We are aiming to put Catton Grove on the musical map…when pupils leave our school, we want the reputation of music at Catton Grove to follow them…and to open even more doors for them in the future.
We are seeking a candidate with a positive ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to communicate and work well with others, along with a willingness to be involved in the wider life of our school. You will be a good role model to all pupils and be patient, calm, confident, consistent, encouraging and motivating.
We serve a deprived community with all of the challenges that come with it. We have very high expectations on behalf of our pupils and make no apologies for that. Catton Grove has a long-standing and robust reputation for the support we offer our pupils, staff and families. We have been judged as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted in our most recent inspection (May 2023) and take pride in our pupils’ behaviour.
Catton Grove Primary is fortunate to have the best of both worlds - we are the size of a high school but with the feel of a close-knit school family. We are a friendly, committed team who work hard to meet the needs of all children in our school, supporting them to become lifelong learners who believe in themselves and aim high. Catton Grove is a strong school community, with enthusiastic and inspirational pupils who are keen to learn. You would be joining a supportive, dedicated team of staff who work hard to enable our pupils and staff to achieve the best they can.
If you would like a discussion about the role prior to applying, please contact the school to arrange a telephone call.
