KS2 Funded Activities in Summer

One of the funded summer activities through Sunday Times/EEF funding is a weekly session throughout the summer with Laboratory Media at their study base in Hellesdon.  

Workshops are open to students aged 8-12 from Mile Cross/Catton Grove areas in North city with 10 places each week.  Event info below, sessions include free lunch and transport can be arranged via Laboratory Media if this is a barrier to participation. Eventbrite bookings will open tomorrow morning (Wednesday) at 10am – info and the link to sign up will be available on this website - https://www.laboratorymediaeducation.co.uk –please share with students/parents you think would benefit most as once the Eventbrite is open the link with be publicly available to any students. Weds 29th July -  Robots and Coding Create a virtual robot. Programme real robots to obey your commands! Plot the robots progress through an assault course. Rolling robots and mini robots. A natural first step for those planning world domination! This fun day of activities will explore using code to control robots. Ideal for the development of sequential thinking. Weds 5th August – Animation Make your own film where anything can happen. Build a mini set and write the story line then shoot the action. Edit the film then create your own soundtrack and sound effects. Develop little ideas on the big screen. A day of using traditional and stop Frame animation to express your wildest ideas. Develop the skills to broadcast your ideas to a wider audience. Weds 12th August -  Digital puzzles and Conundrums A day of challenging young minds to unravel a series of digital and practical problems. A wide range of tasks taken from our many workshops. Robot puzzles, mystery puzzles, physics puzzles and mind bending logic puzzles. A day of exploring and reflecting on how we approach problem solving.
