Retirement Letter

Dear Parent/Carer,

Some of you may have realised that I have been in school slightly less than normal over the last two terms. This has been planned, has had the approval of the governors and is part of my retirement strategy.

It has been my privilege to be Headteacher first of all at what was Catton Grove Middle School and then here at the Primary School over the last 21 years but I am writing this letter in order to let you know that will be leaving at the end of October.

Coming to this decision, as I am sure you can imagine has not been easy as, despite the challenges of leading the largest primary school in Norfolk, I can honestly say I have loved every minute of my time here (well mostly!!).

However, the time is right to hand over the reins to ensure the continued success of our school’s amazing journey.

We held interviews for the post of Headteacher back in January (do you remember those times!!), and I am delighted to inform you that, after a thorough and challenging 2 days, Catherine Lorne, who, as you will be aware, is currently Deputy Head was successful and will take up the post of Headteacher as from November.

As you know, Mrs Lorne and I have worked very closely over the last 13 years since the school became Catton Grove Primary in 2007 and we will continue to do so in order to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible on behalf of you and your kids.

I will be writing to you again next term closer to the time I actually leave, but at this point I would like to thank you for all the support you have given us as a school as we have continued to ‘strive for excellence’ in everything we do.

Yours sincerely,

Tim Lawes
